How do we "break the silence"?
How do we "come out of the closet"?
How do we "survive"?
We tell someone.
We reach out and tell someone.
Gay pride day 2004,
We made signs before marching.
Scared to death - marching.
Marching for freedom.
We told someone - Marching!
I can't confirm who made the sign.
It feels like it could be me.
"Tell Someone"
A simple sign with so much meaning,
How do we fix the problem?
How do we cure the disease of Child Sexual Molestation?
We as a society often mask things in fear.
Creating a taboo over traumas like rape or child abuse.
Placing blame on a victim or the even more popular - "Ignorance".
"If we don't address the issue - it will go away".
Getting raped at the age of 5 doesn't go away.
This issue will never go away until someone speaks out!
How do we break the silence?
How do we come out as victims?
We tell someone…
And I believe if I am the one that created that sign these are the thoughts, these are the reasons why.
I need to heal.
In able to help others I first need to learn how to help myself heal.
I don't have all the answers.
No one has all the answers.
But in telling others our experiences of abuse, we allow ourselves to feel safe again.
This is my personal goal… to feel safe again.
Tell someone… just break the silence and Tell Someone!
